The Challenge

Hydrogen is hard to move. The infrastructure to move it is even harder to build.

Compressed and liquefied hydrogen demand bespoke vessels, high-pressure tube trailers, cryogenic equipment, and specialized terminals. Every link in the chain — production, loading, transport, unloading, dispensing — needs purpose-built hardware and trained crews. That’s slow to deploy, expensive to scale, and impossible to drop into the existing global container network.

The result: hydrogen producers and end users can’t always reach each other. Supply gets stranded. Projects stall waiting on infrastructure that may never get built.

What Hydrexia Delivered

A 20-foot ISO container that ships, stacks, and handles like any other.

The MHx system stores 1,000 kg of hydrogen as a stable solid — chemically bound inside a metal hydride — in a standard 20-foot ISO frame (6.06 m L × 2.44 m W × 2.59 m H). Because it conforms to ISO dimensions, every crane, chassis, terminal, and vessel already in the global container network can move it without modification.

Hydrogen is held below 30 bar using non-pyrophoric metal hydride. The system has a 30+ year operating life, and is offered in two versions tuned to the heat available on site:

  • High Temperature — desorbs at 350°C, stores 1,000 kg of H2. Built for industrial sites with high-grade waste heat or process steam.
  • Low Temperature — desorbs at 60°C, stores 250 kg of H2. Built for sites where only low-grade heat is available.

Either variant ships the same way: like any other container.
